Is SmartLipo Right for You?

A pioneer in SmartLipo®, Dr. Thomas E. Young has seen it all when it comes to body contouring. As the first physician in the region to offer SmartLipo, Dr. Young has performed well over 7,000 laser lipo procedures and provides training for physicians.

Some patients come to Young Medical Spa® eager to schedule CoolSculpting®, only to discover that they may be better served with a minimally-invasive body sculpting treatment like SmartLipo® Triplex® Laser Lipo.

Are you confused about which fat reduction treatment is right for you?

Don’t worry! It’s our job to help you discover your optimal treatment plan during your personal consultation. In the meantime, here a few questions to ask yourself that will give you a better idea of your options:

How much fat are you hoping to reduce?
CoolSculpting is ideal for people who are fairly content with their overall look and close to their ideal weight, but are still bothered by stubborn, pinchable areas of fat, such as love handles, underarm fat, or a double chin. Non-invasive and with little to no downtime, CoolSculpting provides gradual slimming results in the months following treatment. SmartLipo Laser Liposuction, on the other hand, is ideal for a wider variety of body types. Offering faster and more drastic results than CoolSculpting, SmartLipo affords Dr. Young incredible precision to remove specific areas of potentially large amounts of fat from almost any location on the body, including the waist, abdomen, love handles, neck, jawline, arms, saddlebags, thighs, male breasts (gynecomastia), and bra fat.

Do you have concerns other than fat?
Some patients have a combination of unwanted fat and loose or sagging skin on certain areas like the belly. Since heat is required to jumpstart collagen and elastin production in skin, CoolSculpting is not an ideal treatment for tightening skin. Laser lipo, on the other hand, has the dual benefit of melting and removing fat while also tightening the skin.

How much downtime are you up for?
If you wish to avoid downtime, CoolSculpting is your best bet. This non-invasive treatment may make your skin red for an hour or two, but that’s usually the worst of it. You’ll be able to return to your regular day after leaving our office. SmartLipo, on the other hand, is minimally invasive, using a laser to first liquefy fat before suctioning it out through a small cannula. You’ll need to rest at home for a few days following your treatment, in addition to wearing compression garments to support your new body contours and speed healing.

When would you like to see results?
SmartLipo is for people who desire faster, more predictable benefits. CoolSculpting is ideal for people wishing to see gradual improvements in the months following treatment.
